The start of a new year is always a time of self reflection. This leads to us wanting to make a positive change every new year. Since we’re all unique, these changes/resolutions are different for all of us.
There are a few resolutions we can all make to ensure that 2017 is the best year ever!
Say “yes” to new experiences
I started saying yes much more in 2016, and it has had an extremely positive impact on my life. Saying yes to new experiences allows you to step out of your comfort zone. You can meet new people, see new places. All this adds up to positive, and possibly life changing experiences. If you don’t say yes, you’ll be stuck in the same place.
Focus on your mental health
Nothing in your life is going to feel good, or make you happy if your mental health isn’t your top priority. Take the time in the new year to focus on you. Take breaks from work, from social media, from whatever it is that consumes your time. Take a break to just be with yourself, to decompress, and to reflect. Obviously, for some people mental health is more than just stress. This year if you feel that you’re suffering from anxiety, depression, or any other mental issue, please take the time to speak to a professional. Your mental situation, whatever it may be, can only improve from there.
Approach your physical health in a non-obsessive manner
Many resolutions focus on weight loss. Obsessing about anything in your life is never a good thing. So this year instead of obsessively counting carbs, or weighing yourself, approach your physical health (diet and weight) in a casual way. Focus on eating healthy, and working out, but don’t let it take over your life, and your every thought.
Focus on the positive
There is always a silver lining! No matter what is happening in your life, there is something positive to counter it. Find it (even if you have to search really hard) and focus on it. Focusing on the positive will definitely lift your spirits, and help you to feel so happy and content.
